Angry President Looking to Kick Ass

The latest pronouncement from our angry president comes via Hotair, on Chuck Todd's twitter feed.
POTUS to Matt Lauer: said he isn't talking with experts as an academic exercise but to find out info so he knows "whose ass to kick."

First off, that this language from any president diminishes the office. That said, profanity and tough talk can serve to communicate some things. So how is this different from when our last President declared that "we're kicking ass" in Iraq? Well, President Bush made the call from a position of strength. He was vastly unpopular, but the surge was working.  His "kicking ass" was his assessment of the positive results brought above by his policy. Positive results paid for in real blood and sweat. Although the comment was directed to the Australian prime minister, it was heard and motivating to the troops.

Compare that to President Obama's statement. He too is vastly unpopular, but this is a situation that he has not yet gotten under control. He's not trying to inspire others to action or recognize their results, he's calling attention to his actions. To what he is gonna do. A problem is he hasn't done it yet. He's telling us that he want to kick some ass.

Of course, he could just be channeling Hank Hill.

UPDATE: Instalanche! Thanks Professor. Welcome folks, stay awhile and take a look around. BTW, the full Hank Hill quote was "Who is calling me a liar, you or the machine? 'Cause I need to know whose ass to kick."

Eventually, he will do something...probably not what's needed, though.

This is what happens when we elect someone with no experience in genuine leadership experience or skills. Say what you will about Mrs. Palin, but at least she did successfully run a state...

oh, btw, INSTALANCHE

Nope. Just can't imagine that wuss in "mom jeans" kicking any ass. Now, running up and slapping someone and running away, that I can imagine.

Isn't he really saying "whose ass to blame"?

Was it me, or was President Obama trying to control a smirk while he was making that statement? His facial expression didn't seem to match his words. A real lacking in intensity.

I would sleep much more soundly if I thought Obama was channeling Hank Hill, I'll tell you what.

Well, I for one am glad we have a Harvard-educated intellectual for our chief executive. Why, if we'd elected that hillbilly Sarah woman, we'd have ended up with a fumbling, bumbling ignoramus who would have lashed out irrationally, using redneck phrases like "kick ass" to cover for an inability to understand or control events. Instead, we get . . . oh, um, er, ah . . . never mind.

The particular wording doesn't bother me nearly as much as my perception that Obama's wanting to kick ass means he's really looking for a scapegoat.

Doesn't he have to lift the boot off of the neck of BP in order to kick someone's ass?

My, my. What tough decisions he has to make.

Considering how inexperienced and naive about the world he was coming in to office, Obama's not doing that bad a job.

Our president is a bullying prick. Everything he has said and done...oops...everything he has SAID has been bullying. "I'm gonna make 'em pay for it!" "I'm gonna kick ass!" "THEY are to blame!"

If he's looking for an ass, somebody get him a mirror. Does the TOTUS reflect?

Not to mention, "They are getting in the way of what I am truly interested in and this stupid crisis doesn't interest me at all. Can't those oilmen and fishermen just take care of this and stop whining?"

He probably does not know the source of allusion to "Boot on the neck" either. Look in the Bible, Joshua 10:24-35. After the Israelites defeated 5 western kings after the fall of Jericho, the captains of Joshua's army "put their foot on the neck" of the kings and utterly destroyed the kings and their people.

The biggest issue I have with this comment is did he ever end up kicking anyone's ass in a way that was productive? Notice he never says whether these discussions and his ass kicking ever lead to anything being done or changed. Our president is all about talk and bluster, and can't seem to actually do anything.
